Tobacco free partnerships are invaluable to the success of our state and local tobacco control programs, and they play an important role in developing policies. These partnerships increase public awareness of tobacco issues and expose tobacco industry tactics while expanding community involvement and promoting buy-in for policy change. Through education and advocacy, tobacco free partnerships shape social norms regarding tobacco use while creating environments that support tobacco free policies.

Tobacco Free Jefferson Partnership

The Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) members who are involved at the county level are considered members of the local tobacco free partnership, and they work collaboratively with the adult members. SWAT members conduct surveillance, educate, and mobilize their peers and community members about tobacco issues, participate in media advocacy, and present to decision makers.
