DOH-Jefferson School Health
School Health Services promote health through prevention, early intervention, and treatment or referral for acute or chronic health problems.
School health staff provide services to a steady flow of students in the school health clinic for any number of reasons, including but not limited to:
- Asthma
- Colds, cuts, and bruises
- Family problems
- Growth and development screenings
- Head lice
- Headaches
- Health education classes
- Hearing screenings
- High blood pressure
- Nosebleeds
- Parent consultations
- Personal problems referrals
- Scoliosis screenings
- Skin
- Rashes
- Sore throats
- Stomach aches
- Test anxiety
- Toothaches
- Vision screenings
School health services are vital to schools because children spend over one-third of their day at school. Without school health services, students would not have access to immediate healthcare needs at the time it is most needed.
