STIs or STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) are usually passed through sexual contact with an infected partner. They include many diseases such as HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, genital warts, hepatitis, syphilis, and others.

STDs are widespread – more than 2.5 million people in the U.S. are infected each year. Having a STI can make you more likely to get HIV.

Talk about your testing needs with your health care provider.

Florida Department of Health in Jefferson County offer free testing for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and HIV. We have the ability to test those with or without symptoms, as well as a client who may be a contact to someone who has tested positive for an STD. Examination, treatment, consultation and educational services are available to persons infected with or suspected to be infected with sexually transmitted diseases. For testing, call to speak with a nurse to determine what type of appointment would be most appropriate.
