Disease Reporting Information
Health care and laboratory providers are required to report conditions of public health importance to the Florida Department of Heath.
Florida Department of Health in Jefferson County Disease Control Unit conducts surveillance and investigations for Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and other diseases/conditions of public health significance. Human surveillance of diseases and conditions is required in order to meet the mission of public health: to focus attention on identifying, assessing, and controlling the presence and speed of communicable diseases. There are over 90 diseases and conditions listed as reportable. Outbreaks of any disease, any case, cluster of cases, or exposure to an infectious disease, condition, or agent found in the general community or setting (e.g. school) should also be reported.
