Florida Department of Health in Jefferson and Madison Counties
Ms. Kimberly Allbritton was appointed the administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Jefferson and Madison counties in June 2017. Prior to this appointment, she served as the interim administrator from July 2012 until January 2016. While serving in this role, she also held the position of operations and management consultant manager.
Ms. Allbritton’s public service includes over 28 years of leadership experience serving in the areas of long-term care, education, and public health. She started her career with the department in 1987 as a public assistance eligibility specialist at what was then the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) until 1990. She then worked as a family and child counselor for HRS until 1991. She was employed by Turnabout Inc. from 1991 - 1993, as a therapist and later as Director of Social Services at Perry Health Facility. From 1995 – 2004 she worked at the Healthy Start Coalition of Jefferson, Madison, & Taylor Counties, Inc. where she was the Chief Executive Director from 1997 – 2004. Before joining the department, Ms. Allbritton was employed by the Taylor County High School from 2004 – 2008 as a teacher, administering oversight of the Exceptional Student Education Program. She has served vulnerable and at-risk populations for the past 30 years. Ms. Allbritton’s background has provided the foundation for the planning, directing, developing, and coordinating public health programs and activities in Jefferson and Madison counties.
Ms. Allbritton earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with an emphasis in Management from Florida State University. She obtained her Master degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care Management from Saint Leo University. In addition to participating on community boards and committees, Ms. Allbritton was appointed to serve on the Tobacco Education and Use Prevention Advisory Council by the Surgeon General, Dr. Celeste Philip. She also serves on the board of directors for the Big Bend Health Care Coalition, the Jefferson and Madison County Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Boards, and the third circuit Child Abuse Death Review Committee.
Ms. Allbritton is grateful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity and to continue advancing public health for the people of Jefferson and Madison counties. She will work to address State and local priorities and provide population-based health through partnerships with community stakeholders.
